Update on Our Youth Rowing Program 3/19/2025

We’re excited to continue growing our youth rowing program at Duwamish Rowing Club! However, due to staffing challenges, we will be adjusting our plans for the spring session. Like many clubs in the area, we’ve found it difficult to secure coaches while colleges are still in session.

As a result, we are canceling our planned spring youth rowing session, which was originally scheduled to run from March 29 – April 29. We are now focusing on offering a youth program appropriate for beginners this summer from July 9 – August 9. We anticipate receiving more responses from coaching candidates after June 17th, once the academic year concludes.

Our Continued Commitment to Youth Rowing

While we navigate these staffing challenges, we remain committed to expanding youth rowing opportunities in our community. We are actively engaging with local organizations to introduce more young people to the sport:

• Duwamish Valley Youth Corp (DVYC): Continuing our partnership after a great summer last year.

• South Park Development Coalition: Exploring an Intro to Rowing session for their internship students in August.

• Rainier Prep: Discussing potential programming for 2026.
